Inspirational party ideas for younger children’s birthday parties
Where to start?
Whether you have a tinky toddler or an over excitable child, they all want to celebrate their birthday in style. So, where do you start with planning the party? Well choosing a theme is a good starting point. This allows you to then decide upon a colour scheme, coordinating tableware, tailored games and food ideas.
Often your child will have a few suggestions of their own but if not then we have selected a few up and coming trends that are emerging for 2017 (plus a few old favorites which appear year after year!)
In this article we deal with young children’s party ideas (roughly aged 1-5 years old), followed up by a second blog which will hopefully help you with the slightly less predictable older children and turbulent teenagers.
Young Children Party Ideas
Arts and Crafts Parties
Young kids love nothing better than getting messy! You can choose from hosting the party yourself (you can source all kinds of craft kits from places like Hobbycraft). Alternatively there are companies out there who will do the hard work for you. The kids can make something to take home at the end of the party such as a mask or hat. Why not make up party bags packed full with arty treats like mini modelling clay kits and puzzle pals 3D animal kits?
Animal Themed Parties
Whether it’s Wild animals or rural Farm animals, you can be rest assured that your little ones will love dressing up in a mask, playing ‘sleepy lions’, blowing bubbles and running around making animal noises to amuse all. Check out some animal related food ideas on Pinterest and you will have the party guests eating out of your hand, perhaps not literally! Send them home with an animal themed party sweet cone to savour the animal adventure after the party has finished
Traditional Book Character themes
We all love reading books such as the Gruffalo, Peter Rabbit, Paddington and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, to our children. So why not bring the book to life with a party centred around their favourite book? Most themes have coordinating tableware and decorations available. Make some fun party food items which coordinate with the theme and play some traditional games such as pass the parcel and musical statues. Nothing wrong with a bit of tradition now and again
Royal Kings and Queens theme
Again dressing up comes to the forefront of this party idea. Whether it’s an aspiring Prince or a true Princess you have, you can be sure they have a following of wanna-be kings and queens. With this theme you can play around with the colour scheme to perhaps coordinate with their favourite colour to set the scene. Be sure to add a dash of gold partyware in there though! Then all you need is a few Kings Crowns, Princess Crowns, prepare some ‘posh nosh’ and maybe even invest in a Castle Cupcake stand. These beautiful castles are made from strong cardboard which means they can be used as a toy again and again, long after the party has ended.
So, hopefully this has given you some inspiration and food for thought for your next little ones birthday party.
